DEVON 'DOG ON GOODS
Thursday, 23rd September 2010
SOUTH DEVON RAILWAY
POSTPONED UNTIL SPRING 2011
DAY 2 ONLY OPTION
At last I can reveal that my “rather special” charter offering for early September is a rare chance to photograph the BR Black Dukedog
4-4-0 No. 9017 on the South Devon Railway.
The engine is visiting the line for the Heritage Transport gala on 11th/12th September where it will work with another BR liveried Cambrian “partner” Collett 0-6-0 No. 3205, which is planned to be on the service trains on the dates of a our photographic charters.
The charters themselves will operate from Buckfastleigh station starting at 07.30 hrs and run until 10.45 hrs when service trains commence. We will then have the opportunity to run in between service trains during the day if the weather conditions make this worthwhile. We will commence running again at approx 16.15 hrs with full line occupation available until sunset.
On Tuesday (day 2) we shall run with a short BR liveried goods train.
It is expected that the engine will face Ashburton in order to be able to double-head with 3205 during the gala, although this is not yet confirmed. There are good photo opportunities with engines facing either way on the SDR.
This booking option is for DAY 2 ONLY - Cost for this charter will be £48.00 per head.
