LOCATION & HISTORICAL RESEARCH TO ENSURE AUTHENTICITY AND ACCURACY FOR YOUR PRODUCTIONS

Steam Recreations is able to offer a whole range of consultancy services and historical research to assist film and programme makers to accurately recreate past railway scenes. Don Bishop ARPS has a great depth of knowledge in recreating past railway scenes and as a specialist photographer is able to see things from a programme/film makers perspective.

Railways often play a key role in programmes and films, particularly in helping to set a scene, date it and accurately represent a particular geographic area. Therefore getting the period feel right through to use of the correct locomotives and rolling stock at suitable locations can make a huge difference in how a programme or film appears to the viewer.

There is a huge resource of preserved locomotives, rolling stock (both passenger and goods), period stations, goods yards and sheds, engine sheds and other railway related buildings all of which can be further enhanced by the use of "extras" wearing period uniforms and customes of course. These are spread throughout the UK so can represent almost any railway company and period required. Both large and small stations can be recreated without too much diffculty.

Steam Recreations will firstly take on any research required to establish accurate historical representation of a particular area and or period. Once this is established we will research what resource is available in the railway perservation industry to recreate the scenes desired. We will then take on the whole task of arranging the use of the correct locomotives, carriages, wagons and suitable locations. We will approach locomotive and stock owners on your behalf and agree terms and fees for hire and use of these items. If a different location is desired to where the train itself is based we can arrange to have it transported to your desired filming location. We will arrange agreed filming dates and access to the location at times to fit in with the host railway or museums public opening to give you exclusive access to and use of the location.

You will be able to confidentally leave your specialist railway related requirements to us to arrange and liase with yourselves as required.

Costs will be related to research and consultancy time spent on the project, plus locomotive and rolling stock hire, transportation to and from the filming location where appropriate and site fees levied by the host railway or museum. We will of course provide a full quotation once all research is completed.

Please contact us if you have any requirements in this field, be they for film. television or perhaps educational purposes and we will be pleased to discuss the project with you.
