So as I said in my last post I spent a week on the Isle of Man last week and the weather was "challenging" at times, but of course that can also lead to some dramatic light. For this shot the sight of both Jane & I hanging onto the tripod in the near gale force wind was quite amusing to others I'm sure, but the light was such that I simply couldn't let it go without trying to get a shot. The location is Peel Castle & Cathedral which sits on a small isle just in front of the harbour entrance. Just back from a weeks holiday on the Isle of Man, yes I did do some photography! Weather was challenging though, but more of that later.
I did take the "long way round" travelling from Somerset to Heysham and went via Lincolnshire for a Timeline Events photo shoot at East Kirkby airfield as I fancied something different. Now aircraft aren't really "my thing" but there is something special about a Spitfire or Lancaster bomber, and this shoot involved the later at its home base where it is run up and taxi's around the airfield. Some re-en actors were brought in to add some life to the scenes and the lighting and smoke effects used really created an atmosphere for the images made. I have decided to call this image "Mission Accomplished" as the Lancaster's crew disembark after another dangerous mission over enemy territory. ... See MoreSee Less
