I am planning to run a photo charter on the West Somerset Railway on Thursday 2nd May.The loco will be BR Green Modified Hall No. 6990 “Witherslack Hall”, courtesy of the Great Central Railway, with a maroon passenger set. This is the first Hall to run on the WSR for some years (since 2018) due to the temporally imposed weight limits.I do of course appreciate that this is short notice, but the loco was not originally booked to attend the event, but has arrived to cover for another unavailable loco. Full details are on my website where you can also book places (not via the railway please) at; www.donbishop.co.uk/product/bookable-events/charters-and-events/charters/the-quantock-hall-west-s...The charter is the day before the WSR’s spring steam gala, where at least 7 locos will be running, with most smokebox leading, so further photo opportunities are available over the following days if you decide to stay on for some extra days. The WSR and its surrounding countryside will be looking great with the fresh spring colours becoming established by this date. There has been some extensive lineside work carried out this winter so the line is looking very tidy. The charter is expected to finish around 17.30 – 18.00hrs.Cost for the day is £144.00 per head to cover the high costs involved (in particular coal) these days.

The "Quantock Hall" - Don Bishop Photography
A photo charter day on the West Somerset Railway with Modified Hall No. 6990 Witherslack Hall on a passenger train.
I've been working through processing some images that I had not previously completed, because a client wants to view images of this location. As is often the case, this results in me looking at an image and being quite pleased with the end result and wondering why I had not processed it before. Anyhow, done now and this view is of the rather wonderful location of Penvounder beach and Logan Rock, Nr Porthcurno, Cornwall. Captured during the afternoon rather than at the beginning or end of the day usually favoured for views, but sometimes these seaside images work best in the full sun of daytime and bring out the sea colou#penvounderu#loganrockn#porthcurnoc#cornwalln#beachb#sunshines#holidaydestinationa#visitcornwalln#cornwalllifel#seasidea#PRINTSr#canoneoso#canonc#landscapephotographyr#Coastc#beautifulbritaini#capturingbritaini#beachesa#cliffsl#leefilterslters

This coming weekend we are attending our first show of 2024 with the display of pictures, we'll be at the wonderful Statfold Barn narrow gauge museum and railway, Nr Tamworth, for their annual model railway show. The show is open between 10am and 5pm Saturday and 10am and 4pm Sunday. There are around 30 layouts to view, unlimited train rides on the railway (6 engines in steam) and the museum and roundhouse to view, all included in the ticket price. More details at; www.statfold.com/modelrailwayexhibition We will have our display of landscape and steam railway images available to grace your walls in various sizes. We plan to launch a new collection of "Vintage Heritage" images of preservation scenes that are no longer possible, as either the location has changed or the loco is out of service awaiting overhaul, often for many years. To emphasise this, the image above shows a much changed scene, now no longer possible to capture. Collett 0-6-0 No. 3205, currently out of service awaiting overhaul, hauls a goods train through Berwyn station in April 2000 during a photo charter event. The scene has changed a lot since, with the platform having been extended across the viaduct (as it had originally been) and a number of changes to the "Chain Bridge" & hotel below. #llangollenrailway #berwyn #wales #chainbridge #spring #greatwestern #collett #goodstrain #canon #prints #canoneos #STEAM #heritage #westernregion #GWR #goods
