If you are in the mid Devon area you may be interested to know that I am presenting a digital show and talk this evening titled "Visions of the Landscape" to Crediton Camera Club (meeting held at the Masonic Hall, Union Street, Crediton) starting at 19.30hrs. I'm sure they would welcome guests to attend.
The accompanying image is of the Old Man of Stor, Isle of Skye, on a stunning spring morning a few years back.

As I work through some of the images from this weeks Timeline Events charter at the Great Central Railway I thought I'd share a second image with you all this evening. Is this 1960's steam in perfection? A pretty good impression of it to my eye, converted to black & white it really captures the feel of steam in the 60's, perhaps without some of the real "true grit" feeling of the 1960's, but amazing what has been achieved in railway preservation!
In this image the 8F 48624 heads a mineral train through the pointwork at Swithland, GCR on the morning of 13th Feb 2019.

Steam action -
I attended a charter at the Great Central Railway earlier this week with both BR Std 5 No. 73156 & 8F No. 48624 working trains so that we could recreate some passing trains scenes. Not an easy task believe me, but our organiser Neil Cave did rather well with the timing of getting the two trains underway at the right times so that they passed each other at the correct spot for our cameras to record the scene. So in this shot we see 73156 heading south with a passenger train whilst 48624 heads north with mineral empties at Swithland, such a common scene once upon a time but really only possible now on the preserved Great Central Railway.
