With current cooler and damp weather I thought it would be nice to show a nice sunny Scottish island image with white sand beach and clear waters. This is Vatersay, a neighbour of the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides. A pleasant spell of spring weather, which on the day seemed a bit odd as it was cloudy, windy and cool a few miles away on Barra itself, both when we left there and returned later that day!

Another steam posting for today. A little black & white conversion work, as I think the "Dukedog" looks just right in that format. This was the during the locos much anticipated visit "back home" to North Wales, at the Llangollen Railway, in 2009. The engine is shown at various locations along the line, solo on passenger and goods and double-headed with Prairie No. 5526 (South Devon Rly) on the various charters I ran at the line that spring.

A steam posting for the weekend. Over the years I've run quite a number of photo charters at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway in Cornwall, always a very friendly railway to deal with. Among those charters has been three occasions with the classic Beattie Well Tank No. 30587 (and indeed 30585 when it has visited) on a recreation of the Wenford branch goods, just a few short miles from the real location so the scenery around the line is just right.
Here are a small selection of images recreating those long gone days of the daily goods from Wadebridge to Wenford Bridge with a diminutive Well Tank No. 30587 in 2005, 2009 & 2018. It doesn't get much more authentic than this.
I've put a donation button on the post for you to consider helping the Bodmin Railway through the Covid-19 crisis.
