BR Black 51xx large Prairie No. 5199 with 3 carmine suburban coaches.
Some recent cancellations has resulted in a couple of late places becoming available.
There is no doubt that the Llangollen Railway can offer some of the best “autumn colours” steam photography available on our heritage lines. I am therefore pleased to confirm that I have agreed a charter at Llangollen on Thursday 9th November, right at the time when the colours should be at their best, employing large Prairie No. 5199 with the railways 3 carmine liveried suburban coaches to recreate a classic secondary branch line train that could have been seen around large parts of the former GW network.
I had planned this charter last November, but had to postpone due to the loco requiring some running repairs. We subsequently enjoyed some days with the engine down on the WSR (see image above). A number of you have indicated your wish to retain and carry your booking over from last year, however I do still have limited spaces available.
It is proposed to start from Berwyn station around 08.15hrs, as there is better parking available at this station than Llangollen. We will have exclusive use of the line throughout the day with the charter finishing around 4.30pm as the clocks will be in winter mode by this time.
Please note that for those of you booked on Martin’s 30742 Charters event at the Vale of Rheidol Railway (as I am) on the 10th this provides an opportunity to make it two days in hopefully sunny Wales with autumn colours.
Cost for the day is £75.00 per head with 34 places being available. However many of the places available have already been reserved so please be quick if you want to join this charter and avoid disappointment.
