Monday 25th April 2022
This charter was originally planned for Tuesday 5th April, but unfortunately the loco failed less than 48 hours before with a small hole in the smokebox, so the charter had to be postponed. I have now agreed with the WSR the new date of Monday 25th April.
This is an opportunity to enjoy a days photography on the line, recreating scenes that were once familiar in mid Wales with ex GWR Manor class locos, and 7828 “Odney Manor” was a regular in that area throughout its BR career. The WSR and its surrounding countryside bears more than a passing resemblance to the single track Cambrian mainline in mid Wales. The loco is wearing BR lined green livery and is carrying an 89C Machynlleth shed plate. The train formation will be 3 coaches, 2 x Maroon and 1 x Choc/Cream to recreate a classic WR appearance from the mid 1960’s, plus a crimson liveried PMV van also attached, and so typical of local trains between Shrewsbury/ Oswestry and Aberystwyth in the 1960’s.
We will have a full days charter starting around 08.00hrs at Bishops Lydeard, where there is ample parking and hopefully the café will be open for hot drinks etc.
We will then proceed down the line tender first to Williton to run round and capture a few station shots before setting off, with various stops for run pasts, back towards Bishops Lydeard. After a short lunch break, it is planned to run the loco down to Norton Fitzwarren to turn to face north for the afternoon. We will run back towards Williton for our afternoon session and then return to Bishops Lydeard tender first at the end. So you will get a chance to photograph the line & train at both north & south facing locations.
The charter is expected to finish around 17.30 – 18.00hrs.
Cost for the day is £85.00 per head.
This charter is expected to be popular, and there are a limited number of places available as most were able to carry their booking over from the postponed date.
