Description
Monday 4th April 2022
An opportunity to enjoy a days photography on the rural branch line that is the Dean Forest Railway, Gloucestershire with ex GWR small Prairie No. 5541 in BR lined green livery on a short “pick-up” goods train, so typical of such rural lines in the 1950/60’s period.
We will have a full days charter starting around 08.00hrs at Norchard, where there is ample parking and hopefully the café will be open for teas etc.
I visited the line over the Christmas break and found that much of it has been extensively cleared of vegetation offering clear views of the line. There is also some alterations taking place to the signalling a Parkend, with new signals having been installed and connected to the signal box. These offering further new photo opportunities.
The charter has the full support of my friend and fellow charter organiser Mike Tyack, who is kindly checking out the details and light at various locations in advance for us. Our thanks to Mike.
The charter is expected to finish around 17.30hrs.
Cost for the day is £55.00 per head with 30 places being available.
