BR black Pannier No. 9681 on a short goods.
I have agreed a days charter on the rural branch line that is the Dean Forest Railway, Gloucestershire with BR black Pannier No. 9681, on a short goods train, so typical of the Severn & Wye lines in the forest in the 1950/60’s period. I am pleased to offer the opportunity to join us.
We will have a full days charter starting around 08.00hrs at Norchard, where there is ample parking and hopefully the café will be open for hot drinks etc. We will engage in our photography through the morning and have lunch break, when the sun angle is not so good, and then have an afternoon session. The planned finish time is 17.30hrs.
I have liaised with local photographer Mike Tyack, and our feeling is that mid-May is the best chance of getting some Bluebells in the forest, along with the fresh spring greens, which always look so good at this time of year.
There has been extensive clearance of vegetation along the line, offering clear views. There has also been some alterations and improvements to the signaling at Parkend, with new signals having been installed and connected to the signal box. If you haven’t seen these as yet, they are well worth the visit. All in all a very pleasant days photography should be enjoyed.
Cost for the day is £68.00 per head. Very reasonable given the prices we get quoted for some charters these days.
Please note that if you wish to pay by card, but not via Pay Pal, click the black Debit/Credit Card button option. Alternatively you can email me a reservation and make a BACS payment. I no longer accept cheques for charter payments.
